IRENA statement on the decision to postpone the West Africa Investment Forum / the 6th International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference in Abuja, Nigeria

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 28 October. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has made the difficult decision, due to circumstances outside its control, to postpone both the West Africa Investment Forum (WAIF) to be held on 31 October and 2 November; and the 6th International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference (IOREC) to be held from 3 to 4 November during the International Energy Transition Week in Abuja, Nigeria.

IRENA wishes to inform all its partners and member countries that the events are being rescheduled and new dates will shortly be agreed between the Government of Nigeria and IRENA. Once again, we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this announcement, and we look forward to welcoming you to the event once it has been rescheduled.

The IRENA Investment Forums are a key element in the Agency’s strategy to support the mobilisation of investments in energy transitions.

The West Africa Investment Forum 2022 is co-hosted by IRENA and the Government of Nigeria, in partnership with the African Development Bank and ECOWAS, through the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE).

It will convene decision makers from the public and private sectors including the financial community, development partners and other relevant stakeholders to drive energy transition investments, with particular emphasis on the West Africa region. The Investment Forum aims to strengthen the ability of decision-makers to foster a strong enabling environment for energy transition-related investments as well as helping developers prepare bankable projects and access finance more easily.
